Founded in 1989, Frontløberne has been creating space for young people, ideas and cultural projects in Aarhus for more than three decades.
What started as a cultural environment for young project makers and organisers has grown into a community and project house where young people can develop ideas, create projects and make things happen together. Over the years, Frontløberne has been shaped by the many people, projects and communities that have passed through its doors - and that spirit remains at the heart of what we do today.
Today, Frontløberne is a community for young creatives aged 16-35 and an open platform for cultural and creative entrepreneurship. It's a place to develop your own ideas, experiment, start projects and meet others who are creating something of their own.
Frontløberne is spread across three buildings at Mejlgade 53: Forhuset, Mellemhuset and Baghuset. Together, they make up our project house - with room for different communities, practices, ideas and ways of creating.
Frontløberne is many things at once: a workplace, a project house, a meeting place and a community. But most importantly, it's a place where ideas can grow and where the people who use the house help shape what it becomes.
Forhuset is the shared heart of Frontløberne.
Here, you'll find two common rooms - one of which can be booked for activities and events - as well as a shared kitchen. As a member, you have 24/7 access to Forhuset. It's a place to sit down and work on an idea or project, have a coffee, meet other members, or simply spend time in the house.
Our office is located on the first floor, and you're always welcome to stop by and say hello or ask a question.
Amanda and Huda, Frontløberne’s co-leaders, are here to support members with their ideas and projects. We offer sparring and feedback, help connect people with relevant networks, and share knowledge about funding opportunities and grant applications. We're also always open to exploring collaborations and finding ways to make things happen together.
The first floor is also home to Foreningslokalet, which is shared by C-cube, Mino Ung and Europæisk Ungdom.
You'll find Frontløberne on the second and third floors of Mellemhuset.
On the second floor, you'll find Den Kreative Sal. Here, creative practitioners work on their projects - some from their own spaces and others from a permanent workspace. What brings them together is a shared drive to create.
The third floor is currently known as Bevægelsessalen. The space is set to be renovated, and we see it as a place with a future rooted in movement, the body and the mind. Today, it is home to Behandlerrum på Fronten, where seven psychomotor therapists offer treatments as well as body and movement classes. Our dream is to keep the hall open and free from permanent seating, creating space for events, activities and communities centred around movement, embodiment and wellbeing.
Baghuset is home to members who have their own studios and spaces. What they have in common is a connection to sound and music.
On the third floor, you'll also find our podcast studio, where members can create and produce podcasts and become part of Sydhavnsbølgen, our radio community.
